SpecialtiesGay and Lesbian Clients Clients who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender require clinicians that are familiar with their lives, their culture, and their communities. Since he began practicing in 1984, Stephen has been involved with the LGBT community. He has a broad and deep knowledge of the issues LGBT people face. He founded and ran a LGBT community-based therapy center from 1994 through 2003, and has presented at community and professional forums on a variety of topics: same-sex domestic violence, HIV and AIDS, addictions within the LGBT community, couple issues, and sexuality issues.
For over 10 years, Stephen ran groups for gay and bisexual men in heterosexual marriages. Leading a double life take its toll over time and by mid-life, many men in this situation are facing a complex set of circumstances, such as whether to disclose, where they belong and relationships with their spouses and children. Although Stephen no longer runs the groups, he is an expert in working with such men and their spouses, and still provides individual and couple therapy in this area.
